Grader scan

Written work reaches Grader the way a classroom really works: a photo of a page, a PDF, a short video of a student holding pages up — or one video swept across the whole class set. The scanner works out which frames are pages, which are blank, and how many different pages there really are, so a blank sheet is never graded as a page and one held-up page is never counted twice.

Choose a photo, a PDF, or a video of written pages. Blank pages are reported as blank and are never counted as pages to grade.

A photo or a PDF

One student’s pages at a time, photographed with a phone or saved as a PDF. The scanning engine reads the text — handwriting included — and sends it to Grader.

A video of held-up pages

One student holds each written page up to the camera. The scanner samples one frame a second and counts the real pages: a page held up twice counts once, and a blank page is reported as blank.

One video, the whole batch

Sweep the phone once across the class set, a page at a time, student after student. The finished product separates the sweep into one set of pages per student, matches each set to the roster, and grades the whole batch. It is built for schools that have no scanner — a phone camera is enough.

How it works

  1. 1

Choose the route that fits: a photo or PDF of the pages, a video of one student holding pages up, or one video sweeping across the whole class set.

  2. 2

    Choose the file above.

  3. 3

The scanner works out the real pages — a page shown twice counts once, a blank page is reported as blank — and a batch sweep is split into one set of pages per student, matched to the roster.

  4. 4

Grader reads the text, handwriting included, and drafts marks and feedback for the teacher to approve, edit, or reject.
