A grading assistant you can buy on its own
Grader helps a teacher assess written work against clear criteria, suggest feedback, and return work to students faster, while the teacher stays in charge of the final mark and comment.
A teacher can use Grader on its own, or together with Classroom. Work can arrive as typed text, a file upload, or a video of held-up pages, which the new video scan counts before grading, blank pages are reported as blank and are never counted as a page to grade.
Grader is a teacher tool. Students do not see its pricing, its plan limits, or its internal scores as a ranking. Any grade it suggests is a suggestion for the teacher to approve, edit, or reject.
In this version, no file uploaded here is graded, stored, or sent anywhere.
Grading rigor, set by you
Choose how strict Grader is, from 0 — no rigor at all — to 100, the most strict grading, the setting for advanced classes. The number shapes every suggestion Grader makes: how missing accents are treated, how generous partial credit is, and the mark an answer needs to pass. The final mark and comment always stay yours.
How to set grading rigor
- 1
Move the slider toward 0 for gentle grading, or toward 100 for the strictest grading. The preset name beside the number — Standard, Strict, Advanced — exam strict — tells you where you are.
- 2
Read the four effects under the slider: the pass mark, partial credit, accent treatment, and feedback tone all follow the one number.
- 3
Check the sample answer under the effects: the same work is re-read at your rigor, so you can see its treated score and whether it passes before you trust the setting with real work.
- 4
Leave the slider where you want it. Your choice is remembered on this device, and when classes go live, each class keeps its own rigor.

Same answer, this rigor
El sabado fui al mercado con mi familia. Compramos frutas, pan y flores para la cena. Tambien visitamos a mi abuela, y comimos tamales en su casa. Fue un dia muy especial para mi.
Missing accents found: sabado → sábado, Tambien → también, dia → día, mi → mí — at this rigor they are warnings.
Content, vocabulary and grammar: 78 · Partial credit: +3.9 · Accent errors: −0 · Treated score: 81.9 · Pass mark: 60
This answer would pass at this rigor.
A demonstration with one fixed sample answer — moving the slider re-reads the same work, and no real work is graded here. Your rigor choice is remembered on this device; when Classroom classes go live, each class keeps its own rigor setting.
Set the rigor in three steps
- 1
Drag the slider — or tap a preset — to set the rigor, from 0, no rigor at all, to 100, the most strict grading, the setting for advanced classes.
- 2
Watch the sample answer re-mark itself: how accent misses are treated, how generous partial credit is, and the mark an answer needs to pass all follow your number.
- 3
Grade as usual — every suggestion Grader makes now follows the rigor you set, and the final mark and comment always stay yours.

Set up camera proctoring for a test

- 1
Record the class consent first: in the panel above, pick the class and record its grade band. K–5 classes are blocked entirely. For grades 6–8, tick the school-consent box only when the school's written confirmation is on file — and tick the clips box as well if that confirmation covers short clips for Strict mode.
- 2
Choose the mode for the test: name it, generate its test id, and pick Off, Flag-only, or Strict. The default is Off, and a save is refused — with the reason shown — when the class's band or consent record does not allow the mode.
- 3
Share the student link shown under the setting. Students see the plain-language disclosure first and choose the camera or the non-camera route themselves; declining is never a flag and never a zero.
- 4
Review the queue afterwards: open each session's event timeline in the panel and give every flag a disposition — dismiss, note, talk to student, or escalate. Flags are for teacher review — never automatic punishment — and event notes are deleted automatically after 90 days.
- 5
To watch a test live, tick Screen view on the test's setting (the class consent record must name screen view first) and open Live screens in the panel while students test: each tile is a student's screen, live and never recorded, and clicking it opens the large view, where you can send a message into the test or pause that student's test. Students share with their browser's own share button and can stop or decline — never counted against them — and every view you open is written to the record's access log.
How it works
- 1
Send in written work as typed text, a file upload, or a video of held-up pages — the video scan counts the pages before grading, and blank pages are reported as blank.
- 2
Grader assesses the work against clear criteria and suggests feedback.
- 3
Approve, edit, or reject the suggestion — the final mark and comment stay yours.
- 4
Return the work to students faster.
